Have you ever listed the little things that make great moments? Those with the power to plunge you into an ocean of happiness in a split second? Like breathing in the captivating scent of a blossoming flower, waking up to the sweet song of a bird, or feeling the sun’s rays caress your cheek on a July afternoon…
If you ever lack inspiration or don’t have the chance to experience these rare moments, we highly recommend listening to the debut album by JW Francis without further delay—our daily dose of vitamins C, D, E, and the ultimate mood booster!
Bedroom pop… What a strange name for a musical movement, right? Yet, it is with a healthy dose of humor and friendliness, traits omnipresent in the artist, that JW defines his music. It must be said that it is easy to picture the scene: an unapologetic hipster who traded his beard trimmer for a nineties cap, a bit of a NERD, a touch of a WEIRDO, holed up in his makeshift Brooklyn studio, composing a love letter to his beloved Big Apple (Q.E.D.).
JW belongs to a generation of artists who drew inspiration from our indie pop idols of the past decade, such as the master Mac DeMarco, and successful bands like Deerhunter and Mild High Club.
A true self-made man, both as an artist and in real life (he founded his own sightseeing tour company), JW is also a fierce advocate of DIY. This personality trait infuses his debut album with the kind of Lo-Fi tones that made the city’s legendary artists famous (The Strokes or The Velvet Underground, to name a few).
At a time when the music industry seems to be gradually emerging from lockdown, the mop-haired artist treats us today to his warm and benevolent melodies, promoting letting go, life’s simple pleasures, and procrastination.
Ladies and gentlemen, book your tickets now for JW’s next Magical Mystery Tour to discover the living spectacle of New York City’s streets.
Recharge your batteries in Central Park with a delicious Hot Dog, then head through the subway turnstiles toward Brooklyn with “Is that the one”. Once you arrive, marvel at the impressive street art of the Williamsburg neighborhood to the sound of “LoFi”. Finally, after walking all those miles, take some time to relax with the countless attractions of Coney Island beach to the rhythm of “All there”. Admit it, you can already picture yourself there, right?
